"Holding Sky Plays Hamilton", October 2007
Don’t have anything to do on Sunday November 4th between 5pm and 10pm? I think you should go to a show and see Holding Sky play at the Underground (41 Catherine Street, Hamilton). Also on the bill are Kincaide, Victoria’s Switchblade, More Than Meets The Eye, slowmotionnoise, Peasant Life, and Wynston. Tickets are $8 in advance, or $10 at the door.
Now who is Holding Sky you may ask? A band composed of some McMaster alumni and their friends. Bourke Tillman (drums) and Kohji Nagata (guitar and backup vocals), as well as Ben Tillman (bass, backup vocals), Tim Laidman (vocals) and Matt Simpson (guitar) formed the band in 2005, when Bourke and Kohji were in their second year.
In April of 2006, the band opened for the very popular festival tour, Taste of Chaos; opening for the likes of Thursday, Silverstein, Deftones, Thrice and Atreyu. Their fanbase has continued to grow since that time and the guys were interviewed by View magazine in 2007. Following this, the band put out their first full-length EP, titled Love is Dead: The Birth of Promiscuity. Recently, Matt left the band to tour with Fred Eaglesmith, but he has since been replaced by Mikey Hill, another McMaster alumni.
If you want to check out their music, please head to their Myspace page: www.myspace.com/holdingsky, or their website, www.holdingsky.com
Check these guys out, they are seriously amazing.
